Have a Voice in Broadway's Future: Consider Running for the Board Annual elections are coming up on October 16th, and there are 3 seats on the Broadway Historic District Association Board up for election. If you are interested in running, please contact Rob Frew at rfrew@gmail.com, or any of the current officers listed on the Contacts page. We are genuinely looking for new faces and district-wide representation, to ensure that everyone's voice is heard on issues of importance to our neighborhood. Board meetings are held once a month at Broadway Presbyterian Church. Contact any of the officers for more details on the time commitment and what is involved in being on the Board. Take a Step Back in Time

Hundreds of people attend the neighborhood’s annual Tour of Homes, where beautifully restored Victorian era homes are open to visitors. Come learn more about the history of Rock Island and the Broadway District, and what makes this such a great place to live!
Dennis Harker has been working furiously on this duplex on the corner of 9th Avenue and 21st Street. He recently unveiled the first story himself, and set about prepping and painting the siding a pleasant sage green, restoring the details on the bay window, and restoring the wraparound porch. There was a single bracket remaining from the original porch eaves, and Dennis used this as a pattern to recreate the rest. He had to restore the entire soffit structure, from the brackets to the crown molding. He hopes to finish the first floor this fall, and if time and weather allows, will then move on to the 2nd story, removing the siding, and restoring the missing details. Dennis also owns another rental on 20th Street, and he himself lives on the historic 12th Street in Rock Island. Next time you're out and about, make sure to take and look, and give Dennis a shout of encouragement as he continues this restoration! We hope you like the newly designed web-site.
