Tour of Homes 2003 This annual tour of neighborhood homes grows more popular every year. While there are only five homes on the tour each year, the entire district is on display to the hundreds of guests who walk through Broadway. Visitors enjoy trolly and horse drawn carriage rides through the neighborhood. Actors in period costumes portray early residents of the homes. Refreshments and activities are held at "Broadway Square". "Doorways to the Past" On Mother’s Day, May 11, 2003 at the annual Mother’s Day Tour of Homes in the Broadway Historic District of Rock Island, Illinois, doors to five historic homes were thrown wide open to the hundreds of visitors who attended this annual event. As people have come to expect, the homes featured this year highlighted the blend of modern family life with historic architecture and interiors. This year’s homes were: 541 23rd Street, owned by Jeff McKinley and Dan Clem, as our “House In Progress” 536 23rd Street, owned by Bill and Wendy Rowand 901 21st Street, owned by Dean and Stephanie Thomer 1231 21st Street, owned by Gary and Linda Rowe 1230 22nd Street, owned by Norm and Louise Schultz and as a bonus, 2207/2209 7th Avenue, The Anastasia Murphy House, owned by The Tuscan Group. To many, Mother’s Day has to include the annual tour of the beautiful homes and neighborhood of Broadway. Actors portraying the homes’ original owners greeted visitors at the door of each home. An old fashioned trolley transported guests around the neighborhood with a narrated tour of the Broadway Historic District. Mother's Day Tour of Homes 2001 |
