The Quad Cities are old river towns, located at the bend of the Mississippi, a unique location where the river runs east to west. The area includes Rock Island, Moline and East Moline in Illinois and Davenport and Bettendorf in Iowa.  Travel to the area is easy on Interstate 80 and Interstate 74.  Interstate 88 takes you to the Chicago suburbs in two hours.  Des Moines Iowa is three hours west on I-80.

As a tourist destination the Quad Cities offer a variety of outdoor activities to be enjoyed in and around the rivers including: three riverboat casinos, John Deere Headquarters and Visitor's Center, and the iWireless Center (formerly the Mark of the Quad Cities).  The iWireless Center hosts professional hockey and arena football teams, big name concerts and other attractions.  To find out more about attractions in the Quad Cities visit www.visitquadcities.com.

Rock Island is the oldest of the Quad Cities, located between the Mighty Mississippi and the smaller Rock River.  Besides an active business community, Rock Island is home to Augustana College, and a lively entertainment area known as The District.   During the summer you will find a street festival almost every weekend. A sampling includes:  the Criterium Bike races, with racers from 48 across the nation; Ya-maka-my weekend, a Jamaican flavored festival; Gumbo Ya Ya, a little bit of New Orleans in Illinois; The Rock Island Gran Prix professional go-kart races, and MANY more.

Located on the south side of the Mississippi River, you can reach Rock Island easily from the I-280 bypass on the west, or from anywhere within the Quad Cities.

At the heart of some of the original neighborhoods of Rock Island is The Broadway Historic District, one of the region’s premier historic neighborhoods, with numerous completed and ongoing restorations and renovations.  Bordered roughly by 7th Avenue on the north, 13th Avenue on the south, 17th Street to the west and 23rd street to the east, Broadway Historic District is just blocks from the fun in The District of downtown Rock Island.  Augustana College is just to the east and Davenport, Iowa is across the Mississippi, reached by the Centennial or Arsenal Bridges.

Broadway is an old-fashioned neighborhood, where the folks across the street bring over dinner if someone is suddenly ill.  During the summer you will see neighbors talking across the hedges, or children extending their play up and down the block.  Many neighbors stroll by on the way to one of the city parks bordering Broadway.  Even colder weather doesn’t stop the Broadway neighbors.  Each February you will find them hosting “Porch Parties”.  Broadway is a neighborhood of homeowners actively pursuing improvements in their own homes and working to the betterment of the neighborhood and whole community.
